Our mission is to improve surgical performance through research.

We are a multidisciplinary group including surgeons, psychologists, psychiatrists and educationalists.

We believe that surgeons have a responsibility to perform at their best when caring for patients. We believe that training and support, both psychological and technical, are essential to enable them to do this and our mission therefore is to support surgeons to perform to their best, through research and training.

Our aim is to pinpoint the aspects that contribute to surgical performance through relevant and tangible research and provide intervention to enhance surgical performance.

Our current project focuses on the psychological aspects of surgery including performance anxiety and surgical performance.

Our National Survey on Surgical Performance Anxiety has now closed.

The survey has been closed in light of all non-COVID-19 related research being paused by the study sponsor (Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust). Although this is earlier that we hoped to stop the survey we have >600 responses and look forward to sharing our results with you.
